The nursing profession has recently gained popularity among high school graduates, employers, and community-based organizations both locally and internationally. Despite this growing interest, many stakeholders remain unaware of the vast opportunities that come with this esteemed profession, with most limiting their perception of nursing to patient care alone.
This issue was highlighted during a consultative forum at Peace and Security International University (PSIU) on Wednesday, 12th February, themed “Opportunities for Nursing Programmes.” The session was facilitated by Springboard Consulting Agency, an organization contracted by the German Government to recruit nursing students from institutions of higher learning and place them in hospitals in Germany. PSIU’s strong reputation for successfully fostering international partnerships made it an ideal choice for the agency.
One of the most significant advantages of this collaboration is the minimal financial burden on students. They will only be required to obtain a passport, receive the necessary vaccinations, and cater to their personal expenses. During the informative session, students explored various career opportunities available in German hospitals.
During the visit, Prof. Abraham Waithima, the DVC of Academic Affairs, was briefed on the extensive opportunities offered by the agency to ensure a thorough understanding before rolling out the programme. Additionally, the agency will sponsor three PSIU faculty members to assess the hospitals in Germany before finalizing the agreement. This initiative is expected to pave the way for further engagements, including formal Memoranda of Understanding and guaranteed job placements for PSIU nursing students.
We wish all nursing students success in their academic and professional journeys!
